About Us
The true story of Solki
I'm Maria, I'm 23 years old, I graduated 12th in Fashion Design and my passion for sewing began exactly when I started the course.
On February 14, 2021 I decided to combine my love for sewing and animals and start Solki. When I started this journey I had just moved house and location... I only had money to buy 3 fabrics (half a meter of each) plastic bags for orders and fabric labels, and, as I had already done other sewing work, I also used fabrics that they had left. I had zero in my account without knowing whether the brand would bear fruit or not, and so I started my business!
Wrapping

As I didn't have the means to invest in the packaging, I used everything I had at home to prepare the orders, white tissue paper, heart-shaped stickers that said “Handmade with love” and a string that went around the package that I always carried with me. a handwritten thank you text on paper.
As I began to receive orders, I started to collect money to invest in the brand's visual identity and all the packaging.
I managed to invest little by little on the paper in yellow and arrive at what I have today, boxes , thank you and washing cards, Solki stickers and finally cloth bags (made by me) where the items go.
Confection

As you already know, each piece is made by hand and still takes some time. This girl next door is what allows me to produce any type of article! To achieve this, before starting Solki I had to sell a lot of masks to protect against Covid. Masks that cost neither €5 nor €12… yes, they had a much lower cost, which made me work hard to have what I have today!

Solki's big dogs
Solki is the combination of my two favorite dogs. Sol, my dog, a cocker spaniel full of energy and joy, and Kiara, my super calm and sweet kitten... Sol, with these characteristics, inspires me in the most colorful and out-of-the-box patterns. Kiara, as delicate as she is, inspires me with calmer, more neutral patterns. Seeing that I can convey the personality of each of my dogs through the way they dress is what motivates me. I believe that owners like to convey their dog's personality and I also believe that one of the ways to do this is how they dress him.
At the moment
Regarding the safety, comfort and functionality of each accessory, I have to say that nothing is launched without several tests! Only after realizing that you can go out without fear of your pet getting loose and being comfortable, will each collection go live!
When it comes to the brand's ideals, my main objective is for Solki to become as sustainable a brand as possible. Both at the product level and at the packaging level of each order. After all, if we don't take care of the planet we live on, we won't be taking 100% care of our dogs who live here with us, right?!
Sustainability
All fabrics are 100% cotton, environmentally friendly, and produced locally by the company Solki works with. To carry out the printing, sustainable printing technology is used, with a positive ecological balance and with minimized consumption of water, energy and chemical substances. In addition to sustainable fabrics, Solki recycles all fabric scraps left over from collections.
Regarding packaging, the boxes that go to each home are eco-friendly and can be reused by whoever receives them. I don't use plastic and that's why I even created fabric bags to send each accessory... and guess what?! This bag can be reused over and over again. The brand identification stickers...even those are environmentally friendly! Have you realized that my middle name could well be “environmentally friendly”?
In the same way that I buy from companies that have the same values as me, that make ecological efforts, focus on the environment and protecting it... I also want my customers to know that at Solki I care. That I seek to be one of the footprints for a more sustainable, happier and better planet for us to live with our loved ones more than anything.
